Greenfly will continue powering the real-time collection, organization and distribution of content across Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga to fuel the leagues’ Social Media Matchday Feed
SANTA MONICA, Calif. ( February 27, 2025) – Greenfly, the leader in powering short-form content operations for the world of sports and entertainment, today announced a multi-year, league-wide deal with the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) to continue powering the flow of digital media assets across the league’s content ecosystem.
“We look forward to our continued collaboration with Greenfly and the innovations that will come from the power of this collaboration,” Head of Product Management at DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH Dennis Galejski said. “By bringing our perspectives together, we create products that are not only good, but can shape the future of sports media production.”
Greenfly enables the real-time content captured during Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga matches to be distributed via the DFL’s Social Media Matchday Feed (SMMF). The content is captured by dedicated social media reporters, provided by each Bundesliga club, and allows global media partners, viewers and fans to access exclusive and authentic matchday content. More than 60 DFL media partners then have the ability to integrate this content into their Bundesliga broadcasts to enrich their media coverage and create proximity to the Bundesliga stars.
“The multi-year deal underscores the strategic foundation of our partnership with the DFL as Greenfly will continue to power critical elements of the league’s content strategy, international broadcasting efforts,” Greenfly CEO Daniel Kirschner said.
The DFL was one of the first leagues to use Greenfly’s cutting-edge technology league-wide to deliver match-day content to more than 60 media partners – a relationship that began in 2020. Over the course of their existing partnership, more than a thousand Bundesliga matches have been accompanied by a SMMF reporter, capturing behind-the-scenes club-specific content for wide distribution with the help of Greenfly.
As part of the deal, the DFL and Bundesliga 2 Clubs will expand their use of Greenfly to capture and distribute exclusive, behind-the-scenes content to broadcasters for select Top Tier matches through the POV project. The DFL will capture all-access content of club and player arrivals, following athletes from the bus through the locker room and onto the pitch as part of pre-match coverage.
“The Greenfly EMEA team has been working closely with the DFL to strengthen the matchday viewing experience for fans globally,” Greenfly Managing Director of EMEA Nick Shaw said. “As one of Greenfly’s most innovative partners, the DFL’s Social Media Matchday Feed brings the raw emotion and enthusiasm of Bundesliga matches to fans at home and our continued relationship with the league emphasizes the growing value of short-form content for league engagement”.
“This deal underscores the importance of leveraging short-form content to connect and engage with fans, not only through social media but via broadcast,” Greenfly Senior Sports Partnership Manager of EMEA Gabby Vidal Castillo said. “The DFL has set a high standard for innovation in sports media production and we’re excited to work alongside them to elevate how their players interact with fans globally, strengthening both their personal brands and the league’s reach.”
